Film is an Architecture

Ben’s film works engage with large scale architectural infrastructures that mediate relationships between humans and the earth. In the past this has included nuclear test sites, open-mines, under sea data-cables and the most powerful power line in the world. His work has exhibited at galleries inc. MoMA (New York) and the Design Museum (London) and screened at film festivals including Visions du Réel (CH), Edinburgh International Film Festival (UK), Sheffield Doc Fest (UK), Athens Film & Video (USA), Dharamshala (IND), Astra (RO), Beldocs (SER) and architectural film festivals including Architecture Film Festival London, Architecture Film Festival Rotterdam and International Architecture Film Festival Barcelona.

His PhD research brings curatorial, architectural and stage direction decision making processes together to extend films - and the world’s they create - across space.

Ben is an AHRC funded PhD candidate supervised by Prof. Beryl Graham at CDT Northumbria - Sunderland. He holds a BSc from the London School of Economics and an MA from University of the Arts London.

In 2021, Ben received funding from Mitacs (Canada) and UK Research & Innovation (UK) for his latest film project, Leaks. The project is supported by Dr. Max Haiven and the research group RiVAL based at Lakehead University (Canada).

He is a Senior Teaching Fellow at The Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL and a lecturer at Falmouth University.
